Niamh Seaber

Niamh Seaber (b. 2002) is a London-based interdisciplinary artist working across performance, installation, sculpture, and video. Her work occupies the space between stage, rehearsal, and exhibition, exploring how social, political, and cultural structures are not only constructed, but endlessly staged and re-staged. Through spectacle, satire, and collective encounter, she investigates authorship, institutional power, and collective behaviour, often drawing on literary and cultural archetypes to expose the rituals and narratives that shape contemporary life.

Cornwall is where I’m from, but I’ve never made work here. I want to discover what the place might stir up.

I’m interested in the collision between visual art and theatre: the contemplation of one, the heat and spectacle of the other. I want audiences caught somewhere between these worlds. Cornwall already holds these energies, moving to a rhythm of its own — in its landscape, atmosphere, and shared ways of gathering.

I’m fascinated by what happens when different energies collide. A dancer pulls an actor into a tango. A musician sets the room moving. Someone who has never performed suddenly becomes the most compelling author. The most anarchic moments emerge when the death of the author takes hold, and the audience begins to write its own story.

Cornwall already contains many of the ingredients that animate these concerns: artists, performers, makers, communities, and shared ways of gathering. I want to bring some of these worlds into conversation and see what catches fire.
