Falmouth University Graduate Residency 2020
With support from Falmouth University we are delighted to be able to offer one Fine Art BA graduate use of the space this October, the application deadline is Sunday 27th September.
Find out more here.
BLW’s core programme is grounded in its artist’s/artist group’s self-funded residencies, projects and events. As an artist-led initiative our aim is to provide a supported space and critical community to allow artists to develop work and professional practice; to explore and experiment not only with practice, but also in terms of audience engagement and involvement.
We therefore welcome residency/project/event applications – from individual artists, collaborators, artist groups, curators, writers, arts organisers….
At this time, Back Lane West is only available to single occupants or collectives who are all part of the same household, and there will be no open evenings or events in the space.
We’ve also introduced a cleaning tick sheet for residents and a 10 day fallow period between occupants to help minimise any potential risk of Covid-19 transmissions.
The next available residency periods available are:
10th March – 25th March, 2021
1st April – 29th April, 2021
We also welcome applications from artists based locally, nationally or internationally for anytime after April, 2021.
To apply please send the following information to firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Residency Application’ as the subject line.
Approximately 300 words about your practice
Approximately 300 words about why this opportunity is important to you now
A link to an artist website/portfolio
An artist CV as an attachment (if not included on your website)
Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, with a preference for artists with a contemporary conceptual practice, who need time and space to experiment.
For artists applying from outside Cornwall we also favour applications which seek to connect with the local artistic community and/or the heritage, geography or communities of our local area.
Given the current situation we are happy to take no commitment provisional bookings and booking enquiries with flexible dates. We ask a small fee of £200 for artist residencies/projects lasting up to four weeks at BLW – £150 for up to 2 weeks – to help cover our costs.
Please note, standard residencies last 4 weeks beginning on the first Monday of the month, specific dates offered may differ whilst we are implementing a fallow period between occupants as part of Covid-19 related precautions.
We are happy to support artist applications for external funding, please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
