Opportunities & Engagement

Artist Residencies

BLW’s core programme is grounded in its artist’s/artist group’s self-funded residencies, projects and events. As an artist-led initiative our aim is to provide a supported space and critical community to allow artists to develop work and professional practice; to explore and experiment not only with practice, but also in terms of audience engagement and involvement.  Back Lane West’s aims are to support critically engaged visual art practice and therefore there will be a preference for applicants with a contemporary conceptual practice, who need time and space to experiment.

We ask a small fee for artist residencies/projects at BLW to help cover the costs of the space.

We welcome residency/project/event applications – from individual artists, collaborators, artist groups, curators, writers, arts organisers….
