BETWEEN LANDS: A SENSE OF BELONGING ENQUIRY
Back Lane West July Residency: ZIERLE & CARTER
“Arriving on new lands, yet reaching back to touch the old, lingering for a moment, before the old crumbles away between our hands. The loss keeps pushing us forward – eyes wide open”
Working at Back Lane West during July, Zierle & Carter’s Between Lands: A sense of Belonging Enquiry Residency revolves around, and delves into questions of belonging, cultural identity, home, and notions of place.
Alexandra Zierle & Paul Carter have been in residence at BLW during July using it as a studio space to explore material-led, process based, and multi-sensory approaches to making new work, experimenting and following on from their Arts Council England funded research trip to Australia at the end of last year. The artists will be giving a talk on their time in Australia and how this has led to a new line of enquiry and the development of new work at BLW.
