ALIAS Hub 1

BACK LANE WEST is hosting a series of informal lunch-time ALIAS Hub events through 2014. An opportunity for artists and those interested in contemporary art to discuss, share knowledge, information and ideas, access advice and make links, over a bowl of homemade soup. All welcome.

1st Alias Hub:  Saturday 7th December 12.30pm

BACK LANE WEST gave a short talk and invited discussion on The Art Party Conference and Fringe: Art Party

BACK LANE WEST was invited by ARTQUEST to be part of Fringe: Art Party; an ARTQUEST initiative to bring artists together from across the country to generate discussion points and collaborations around and in response to: The Art Party Conference.

It was a great weekend, but what a train journey, don’t ever try it!

The Art Party Conference 2013 is the first of its kind, initiated by the artist Bob and Roberta Smith in the name of The Art Party, and follows on from his 2011 artwork LETTER TO MICHAEL GOVE MP SECRETARY OF STATE FOR EDUCATION:

“ART IMAGES, ARTIFACTS, SONGS, CULTURE ARE THE PRINCIPAL MEANS BY WHICH HUMAN BEINGS DEFINE THEMSELVES”

“The Art Party Conference 2013 will be an antidote to all other conferences and will act as a forum for debating the future of the arts in today’s climate of spending cuts and changes to the education system. The Art Party, which is not aligned to any political party, hopes to influence decision makers to listen and to think again.”
