February residency 2016, Co-curated with Carol Laidler.

There will be three different iterations of work throughout the month: Tying the Threads, The Height of Him and Every Day for a Year and an opportunity to participate in the launch of the project Objects of Loss.

Saturday 13th February 2016, 2pm – 5pm
Objects of loss – bring an object related to loss, and participate in conversation and an optional photography session.
Tying the Threads – wall-based screen prints and photos will be exhibited.

Thursday 18th February 2016, 5pm – 8pm
The Height of Him – multimedia presentation of glass, textiles and prints.

Thursday 25th February 2016, 5pm -8pm
Every day for a Year – multimedia presentation of short film ‘She wonders/wanders’ and installation of 176 porcelain mourning envelopes.

This residency begins as Davina enters the final stage of her PhD: “Stories, lost voices, absence through loss of people and landscapes; a practice-based study of personal grief narratives and participatory projects”.

The resulting exhibitions and events are co-curated with artist and curator Carol Laidler. http://www.alldaybreakfast.info

The residency brings together work made during residencies in Ireland and Germany, and in response to the research question, that explores paying attention to grief and loss through repetitive acts of making and performance and how we live with the presence of absence in our lives.
