Fairland Collective

Talk & Tasting: Saturday 8th September 2018

Join us from 5pm – 6pm for a display of work or book a free place for the Talk & Tasting beginning at 6pm.

Fairland Collective would like to accompany the presentation of the various projects the they have been working on, with the tasting of food and experiments developed in those same projects. Passing with eyes, ears, minds and mouth from Bootle, Coniston, Kiwanosato and Dublin, Fairland Collective wish to present and extend their journey to the public.

Fairland Collective will dedicate their residency period at Back Lane West to the first ever Fairland Collective production of prints and editions, accompanied by gastronomic experimentations. They will use recipes collected through projects along the way, given by amateur cooks and makers, as the starting point for these experiments. This will serve as general development for the collective’s work, and more specifically for upcoming projects in France, Japan, England and Ireland.

Biography

Fairland Collective are Niamh Riordan, Francesca Ulivi, Motoko Fujita, Brenda Kearney, Emily Cropton and Tom Philipson: a group of artists who have collaborated for the past two years through their work with Grizedale Arts and who now work as an independent collective. With a wide range of skills to draw upon beyond their arts education – from photography to landscape architecture, cheese mongering and baking to carpentry, the collective produce projects which build on the idea of arts being useful in the everyday and the artist having a functional role in the community.
