Lee McDonald

LEE MCDONALD – 20th-27th MAY at BACK LANE WEST

Lee’s Residency forms part of back Lane West’s EXCHANGE RESIDENCY PROGRAMME with PAC HOME (Plymouth Art Centre artist membership) and KARST. He is an artist based in Plymouth and Technician at KARST.

Lee McDonald’s work concerns a particular response to place and local environment through the use of found, discarded and redundant, local materials. McDonald subsequently uses this material to produce dynamic and interactive – yet highly vulnerable – ‘machines’. The vulnerability of his human-powered, performative, machines concerns an inbuilt obsolescence and failure predetermined by the sourcing of these incidental materials that subsequently become pushed beyond their function.
