Shallal Studios Knitted Together project and festival
Shallal Studios’ Knitted Together project asks how we can extend our creative practice by using repurposed, sustainable and natural materials. Shallal Studios is an artist led studio, with projects designed around mediums that our artists want to explore. It’s an opportunity to bring in visiting artists with a specialist practice so that we can learn things like natural dyeing, felting, weaving with natural materials and knitting wearable sculpture. At Back Lane West we’ll be reviewing and taking further some of the mediums we’ve enjoyed best. On Saturday 18 th and Sunday 19 th March the space will be open for visitors to drop in, find out what we’ve learned and made and try some workshops for themselves. In one of our workshops we’ll be continuing our research with The Seaweed Institute into weaving and making jewellery with seaweed. Others will utilise and repurpose discarded materials to make textile art and sculpture. https://shallal.org/articles/knitted-together-festival Shallal Studios is grateful to project funders Arts Council England, Postcode Local Trust and The David Family Foundation.
