Siobhan Humston – Tender to the Sea

MFA Grad Show: A solo exhibition of new and recent work as part of a month long artist residency at Back Lane West.
This exhibition is a culmination of over a year of steady schematic work centred on ideas of separation from our environment, one another and ourselves. While themes of fragility run through the work, the intent is to offer a sense of hope and connection both through the process of creation and in the resulting, symbolic and coastal inspired drawings, sculptures and installations.
There will be a life size rowing boat made from over a thousand used tea bags, a five metre long drawing, an installation of a hundred and one moulded clay pieces and a flotilla of small, hand sewn boats. Tender to the Sea is an intimately personal journey, with Cornwall serving as cornerstone to every aspect of the resulting work.
